APAMSA Officer Positions now open! Apply by Mon Feb 1st.

Dear Class of 2013, the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) at UCLA is excited to invite the class to apply for the 2010-2011 Executive Board! All officer positions are open, listed below. Interested students should send a brief (1/2 pg or less) statement of interest per position to apamsaucladgsom@gmail.com by Mon, Feb 1st at 12 noon. Confirmation replies will be sent at that time. Applicants may pursue up to three (3) positions, and should list them in order of preference. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to attend a casual mixer with the current board at Napa Valley Grille on Mon, Feb 1st at 5p. Food will be provided by APAMSA, an RSVP would be appreciated with the application. The 2010-2011 Exec Board would assume full duties after a transition period, currently slated for the beginning of Block 4 in mid-March.

President: Leads and directs the Executive Board and oversees UCLA APAMSA's mission as a whole, represents the chapter within the medical school, and on the regional and national levels (one position only).
Internal Vice President: Coordinates APAMSA health fairs in under-served communities at multiple sites, in collaboration with APA Health CARE (up to three positions). Note: applications for IVP are currently closed. If you applied for the IVP position, your application has been retained, and selection will occur along with the rest of the board. You are free, and encouraged, to apply to other positions, and should reply by the stated deadline with IVP ranked according to your preference. You will also receive an additional email shortly.
External Vice President: Coordinates mentorship and pre-professional activities with Undergraduate APAMSA, serves as the APAMSA liason to the Minority Health Conference, interfaces with other outside organizations (up to two positions).
Hepatitis B Coordinator: Oversees education initiatives for HBV and related illnesses, coordinates APAMSA's screening and vaccination efforts in conjunction with the IVP(s), interfaces with outside organizations involved in HBV including the LA County Hep B Coalition (up to three positions).
Bone Marrow Coordinator: Directs bone marrow donor registration drives addressing the need for greater Asian and Asian-American representation in the National Marrow Registry, oversees education initiatives on the importance of registration for patients with leukemias and other life-threatening disorders (one position only).
Treasurer: Oversees the organization's finances, raises funds and conducts related projects to support APAMSA's mission (one position only).
Secretary: Oversees communications within the board, with the general membership, and with the outside public, takes meeting minutes (one position only).
South Asian Health Representative: Oversees initiatives to address South Asian health needs in multiple areas (up to three positions).
Webmaster: Maintains the UCLA APAMSA website and oversees the technological aspects of the organization (one position only)

UCLA APAMSA is one of the strongest and most vibrant organizations, and any of the listed officer positions should be an incredibly rewarding opportunity.
